Etsy allows two ways to sell with a production partner. We support both.

Your own design
Share your design with us, and let's assess the production options. Products designated private stay out of the public showcase. Customer access is granted to authorized business accounts. On Etsy this is Designed by a seller: your original design, made by a production partner.

A catalog item your buyer personalizes
Items with a text or file personalization are made with your buyer's own name, date, initials or logo. On Etsy this is a buyer-personalized item made by a production partner. Your listing must ask for that personalization.

A catalog item sold as it is
A ready-made catalog item is not automatically eligible for Etsy. Choosing a birthstone or enamel color differs from adding the buyer's own text or image. Check the relevant requirements, including whether the item is your original design, before listing it.
Disclose your production partner
Add your production partner to the relevant Etsy listings. Use accurate details about who makes the product and where it ships from.

Review the product's personalization options alongside Etsy's requirements. This catalog preview does not confirm that an item is eligible for Etsy.
Real photos first
For personalized products, order a single sample so your first listing photo shows a finished, personalized piece, as Etsy asks.
Setting up your Etsy listing
- Disclose your production partner on the relevant listings. Use accurate production and location details for the partner making your items.
- Set Ships from to our US location: Stafford, Texas, United States. If you send Europe orders by express from our production partner, set those listings' shipping profile to match.
- For buyer-personalized items, turn on personalization and tell the buyer exactly what to send: the name, date, initials or logo.
- For personalized products, make your first photo a finished, personalized piece, not a blank or placeholder text. A sample gives you real photos.
- Made the design with AI? Say so in the listing description.
- Give every variation its own SKU (differs by SKU), so each order reaches the right product.
Good to know
- Can I list a plain piece and add a note field?
- No. The personalization has to be made into the piece. A note field on a plain item doesn't change what the item is.
- Does choosing a birthstone or an enamel color count as personalization?
- A stone or color selected from a list differs from the buyer's own text or image. Review Etsy's requirements for the item, your original design where relevant, and the finished listing. Adding personalization does not guarantee approval.
- I already sell a plain piece on Etsy. What now?
- Review the item and listing against Etsy's current requirements. If buyer personalization is the basis for your listing, make sure it is requested and applied to the product. You can also talk to us about producing your original design.
- Can I sell leather and wood items on Etsy too?
- Yes, on the same terms as jewelry: the piece is your own design, or it is personalized with your buyer's own text or image.
- Is it free to start?
- Yes. No subscription, no monthly fee, no minimum order. You pay for the work as it is done, from a prepaid balance.
